Your Itinerary and abbreviations:
KM = distance cycled by bike/ hiked, AM = altitude climbed by bike, B/L/D/W = meals included (Breakfast/ Lunch/ Dinner)

Day 1.  Wilderness awaits you

Get collected from your accommodation and drive via Wellington and the Baines Kloof Pass. The views over the wine lands are spectacular as you wind your way high above the Witte River as it cuts its way through the valley below. We then drive over the Mitchell Pass before reaching Ceres. Here we stop for lunch and or a refreshment before continuing to the Cederberg. This will be the last of our tarmac driving, soon we hit the gravel for the next three days. We should arrive at our accommodation early afternoon and in time for a swim and sun downer. Our base for the next three nights is a relaxed “A-frame” tented camp in a green Oasis in the heart of the Cederberg.  D

Day 2.  Hike the Maltese Cross and visit the Bushman paintings

We leave our base after breakfast. A short drive takes us to Sandrift, a wine farm (the highest above sea level in South Africa) known for its private cellar and brewery and the start of our hike. The hike is not difficult at all, 7km and takes approximately 3 – 4 hours. We do a picnic lunch in the shade of the Maltese Cross before heading back to our vehicle and drive to the Bushman painting at Stadsaal, but first we get to taste these golden drops of the Cederberg. If you Geocache then let us know KM: 7km B/L/D/W

Day 3.  A wilderness MTB experience

Today you can decide on one of three biking options, but first we have breakfast, after which we go play in the Berg. Your mountain biking options are these:

1. For the more technical cyclist: A mixture of jeep track with a few sandy sections, single trail through some awe inspiring sandstone rock formations which follows the base of the mountain “The Cracks” KM: 27, AM: 560m B/L/D

2. Ideal for the medium strength cyclist: A circular gravel road route, leaving from our accommodation and routeing via the Kromrevier Pass to return to our base. This route will give you a true perspective and the beauty the Cederberg has to offer KM: 29, AM: 525

3. Perfect for the average cyclist: This is the easiest of our three routes – We drive a short distance to and the start of our cycle route. Our routeing starts with gravel roads but then before long we switch to all terrain rough track which winds its way through a landscape of protea brush and later weaving our way through some delicate sandstone rock formation before returning to the main road and return to the start. KM: 16, AM: 120 B/L/D

Day 4. Return to the Mother City

But first we do a hike to the to the Wolfberg Arch. The first part of the hike takes you through the Cracks. Crawl, pull and puff...Once through you enter into a moon landscape and follow the sandy footpath as it criss crosses through this Martian landscape and sandstone formations, a true wilderness. We do a picnic lunch before returning to our car and the return to Cape Town. B/L
