The Munga - transport from Cape Town

Overview

 So you have taken the plunge and entered the hardest mountain bike race in the world. The Munga or the beast as we like to call it, starts in Bloemfontain and ends five days and 1000+km later at Doolhof Wine Estate in Wellington. 

Getting your bike there is not a problem, many companies are out doing that. My question is this:

  • Apart from flying or arranging your own transport, how will you or your wife, girlfriend, husband get there?
  • Would you like your family or loved one to watch  you start? or as Alex puts it “The END”
  • Arrive on the 26th, relaxed and get ready for the briefing?
     

Let us do the work while you relax. We will transport you and your support to that bucket list event. Now your family and or friends can join you and watch you as you sail over that “END” line..

The Munga runs over a little more than 1000 kilometres. There are 5 race villages where riders can rest, eat and get mechanical assistance. There are also a number of water points placed between 50 and 60 kilometres apart. The race is semi-supported meaning that riders will be provided with support from race officials and at race villages, but will not be permitted to have support along the route. Everything a rider needs must be taken along, or bought along the way. Everything needed must be carried on the bike.

Where do I meet the transport
We leave Cape Town on the morning of the 26th November (sparrow) and plan to get into the start venue around mid afternoon to catch the registration. (08:00 – 19:00) The registration is also open on the 27th (race day) from 07:00 till 09:00. Our collection points and times are as follows:

*  Melkbos – Melkbos Cycles 06:00
* Cape Town  – Revolution Cycles – 177 Bree Street – 07:00
* Bellville       –  Chris Willemse Cycles – Willowbridge North – 08:30
 
When do I get to Bloemfontain?
We leave our last collection point in Belleville around 08:45 and head out towards Bloemfontein. We do a short lunch stop in Beaufort West before continuing. Our destination is the Windmill Sun International Hotel.
When does the transport head back to Cape Town
The Munga race starts at 12pm, once the field has left the hotel grounds the transport will return back to Cape Town and drop your support at the same collection point the day before.

* You support person travel for MAHALA correct, your wife, girlfriend, husband, boyfriend travel free – RETURN
Can I take my bike ?
If your like us, we hate traveling without our prized steeds. We've been asked if bikes can come along so here the answer to that.

We need MIN 6 cyclist to warrant this trip, should a 7th book then we will take a dedicated bike trailer along.
Comms with the transport
Ok so your waiting at the collection point and nothings happening! Who do you call?

We will have a dedicated Whatsapp group to keep everybody in the loop.

No Liability:
Cycle Africa Tours will not be liable for any claim and/or damages sustained as a consequence of any act or failure which is beyond our reasonable control and shall include but not be limited to, war, strike, riot, crime, or an event described as an act of God such as storms, flooding, earthquake, etc.

Insurance:
It is your responsibility to obtain sufficient insurance cover for your bike while traveling with Cycle Africa. We are in no way involved with insurance cover for your items. 

General Terms:
We confirm that the utmost care will be exercised during the transportation of your bikes to The Munga. We will not be liable for any action, damage, claim, cost or expense that may arise directly or indirectly as a consequence of any act and/or omission on our part, including our employees and/or agents (including negligence and gross negligence, except to the extent impermissible in terms of the Consumer Protection Act).

Collection and loading of bikes:
The owner of the bike and the transport crew will load the bikes together. There is no need to remove your front wheel. We suggest that all removable items like bottles, GPS, saddle bags, lights etc be stowed in the vehicle.

Payment:
Once we receive your email and confirm the booking, you receive a invoice. We request that you pay ASAP via EFT to secure your spot. 

Cancelation:
Should you cancel within 30 days of the transport date for which the booking was made, you will be entitled to 50% refund of the price paid at the time of the booking.
