Overview

Because each and every traveler is unique, so are their travel requirements. There will never be the ideal tour duration, the combination of specific destinations, or fixed price tag. Complimenting your particular needs is a specialty of ours. The below tour is an example for somebody wanting to experience a bit of everything and short on time.

Day 1     City life the V&A waterfront and Signal Hill

Welcome! We collect you from the Cape Town International Airport and take you into the city. Today is very relaxed, there are several options today:

  • Visit the V&A Waterfront
  • Walking city tour
  • Table Mountain (optional and weather permitting)
  • Watch the sunset from Signal Hill

    We spend two nights in Cape Town in a comfortable guest house within walking distance to the waterfront.

Day 2     Penguins – Cape of Good Hope and Chapman’s Peak

We collect you after breakfast and drive south along the Cape Peninsula. Stopping in Simons Town we visit the Boulders Beach penguin colony before continuing to the most south-western tip of Africa. Our journey continues via Kommetjie and we start our cycle at the start of the world's most scenic coastal road. This pass does not get used by international automobile producers to film their ads for no reason. Take your time and enjoy the breathtaking views. Stop in Hout Bay for lunch and continue along the Atlantic seaboard to finish your cycle in Camps Bay. We load the bikes and transfer back to Cape Town. B 9 KM or 21 KM

Day 3    Jonkershoek – Stellenbosch, and wine

After breakfast, we transfer to the second oldest city of South Africa – Stellenbosch. Our 11 km cycle route is in the Jonkershoek Nature Reserve. We visit one of the many bistros for lunch, before heading to a prominent wine farm which lies at 650m above sea level and offers a breathtaking view of the valley below and False Bay. Our cheese and wine tasting is the perfect way to reflect on the day's activities. B/W 11 km

Day 4    French Huguenots – Franschhoek and Mont Rochelle Nature Reserve

This morning we put on our hiking shoes and do a short transfer to Franschhoek. For the next few hours, we do an easy hike into the Mont Rochelle Nature Reserve, before returning for lunch. The town is known for its centuries-old vineyards and Cape Dutch architecture. Afterward, we transfer to our next destination, Robertson. Tonight's accommodation is in a comfortable guest house with an outstanding kitchen. B

Day 5   The Breede Valley – Wine farms – Elephants

We do a short transfer and then begin our cycle which takes us past many a wine farm, orchards, and views that extend into the valley. We stop at a prominent wine farm, taste their golden drops, and enjoy lunch on the Breede River. We then do a ± 90 min transfer to Sanbona Wildlife Reserve (5-star) and home to the Big 5. You have time to relax before going on an afternoon safari in an open vehicle. B/D/W +-32 km

Day 6   Game drive and the Little Karoo

It's an early start today, get collected by your field guide, and spend the next few hours in an open vehicle and go on safari. We then meet up and transfer through the heart of the Little Karoo towards Oudtshoorn (drive time +-3h) The next two nights are in a warm welcoming lodge in the country and known for its kitchen. B/D

Day 7   Feathers and the Cango Caves

After a leisurely breakfast, we transfer to the Cango Caves. Your local guide will tell you all about the formations, history, and facts during a 60 min tour of the caverns. We then continue and visit an ostrich farm but first, we have lunch before learning the ins and outs of this fascinating bird with its sexy eyelashes. We then climb onto our bikes and cycle back to our lodge on a good gravel road. With luck, we may see some antelope and or giraffe on the neighboring game farm. B/D/ 20km

Day 8  The Montagu Pass and Old Smithy

After breakfast, we transfer using the country roads to the start of the Montagu Pass. Do not panic, it’s all downhill.  The passes stone walls are still original and date back to 1844. This 16 km downhill offers spectacular views as you pass the Old Tollhouse where once the toll of one penny per wheel and one penny per ox had to be paid. The name boards you pass tell interesting tales. Getting into George we load the bikes and do a short transfer to Wilderness. Our second cycle today is refreshing as we bike on good gravel roads and pass two of the lakes which make up the Wilderness Lake District. Lunch today is in the quaint village of Wilderness. Weather permitting, you can walk along the beach to get to your guest house. B 16km

Day 9  Wilderness and relax

Today is all about time for yourself. There is no better location to recharge. You have several options here: Walk on the beach – hire a canoe and paddle the safe water system of the Touw River – do one of the three hiking trails through the indigenous forest where you can have a picnic and swim. B

Day 10 All good things must end – Departure

After breakfast and depending on your flight times, we take you to the George Airport for your flight out. B

South Africa has a rather temperate climate, if you are for example wanting to see the whales in Hermanus or the flowers up the west coast then timing is important.
MIX AND MATCH
If you don’t want the 5 star accommodation let us know, we can rearrange that day and add a half day game drive somewhere else in the itinerary, giving you an extra day later on.
