Our two day, one night Gravel Bike getaway from Cape Town will clear your head but also you give you an opportunity to explore the Breede Valley and possibly see some game on the few private farms we cycle past.
Your Itinerary and abbreviations:
KM = distance cycled by bike, AM = altitude climbed by bike, L = Meals lunch included, W = wine tasting
We collect you after breakfast (08:30) from your accommodation in Cape Town and drive towards the Breede Valley and the town of Worcester. The valley is known for being one of the largest wine producers in the country. The towering mountains surrounding the valley can reach up to 2000m. The friendly people and farmers will make you feel welcome as we cycle on a backcountry road towards Robertson. We cycle past a few game farms so the chance of spotting springbok and eland antelope is fairly high. Just before we get to Robertson you can decide to do a detour to the little town of Mc Gregor before returning to Robertson (± 35km tarmac). After checking into our comfortable 3-star guest house and after a deserved shower, we visit a local winery and sample these awesome drops. (L/W) ± 75km
After a leisurely breakfast, we head off again directly from our guest house and leave town on a tarmac road. About 2km outside of town we start weaving our way through the different vineyards and orchards on gravel roads. There are one or two short sections of tarmac, but today's route is predominantly dirt. We stop off at a craft brewery for something cold to drink and then continue our route towards Worcester. The terrain today will offer spectacular views of the valley, farmsteads, and friendly farm labourers wave as we cycle past. Getting back to Worcester, we load the bikes and transfer back to Cape Town. (B/L) ± 55km
