The Karoo Could Become The Next Tourism Hotspot

Post Covid-19, could the Karoo and wide-open spaces become the next hot spot?

According to an article posted on the 18th May 2020 in the Lifestyle Magazine, South Africa, Travel, they think that the Karoo may just become the new Tourism Hotspot. What do you think?

The current Covid-19 pandemic has hit us hard, and it will take some time to get under control. The South African economy has taken a very hard hit. The estimate predicts that as many as 90 000 jobs will be lost in the next six months. Many people are sitting without an income, with no means of feeding their families. Those of us in the tourism industry are also feeling it. Even if the current lockdown was lifted, it would be months before the country saw international travel, never mind our own countrymen. We also feel that when travel resumes, our guests, no matter their origin, they will choose wisely and prefer smaller groups and possibly even private group travel.

We at Cycle Africa Tours have come up with the perfect cycling holiday package for not only families but small groups, be it a sports club, school, a company getaway, we have what you are looking for. Our company policy is “Local is lekker”  by this we mean, let’s support the small restaurant owner, the cosy guest house and the roadside fruit stalls. If we do not have something of interest on our website, then let us know your requirements and we will gladly design the ultimate vacation.

Social distancing is here to stay for a while, who knows, it may even become the norm around the world. This is why we have decided to come up with some awesome gravel bike tours which start from Cape Town and head out into the countryside of the Western Cape. We also have mountain biking tours that start on the Garden Route and head over into the Little Karoo, working their way back to Cape Town. All in all, we spend much of our time in the greater outdoors, fewer people, less chance of coming into contact with big groups. Even our vehicles have enough space to warrant a safe distance to the next person.

Head on over and see what we offer on the cycling side of things. We also have a Self-Drive program along the Garden Route.
